The Rice Lady Raiders have been struggling this season in their district schedule and their struggles continued this week after they dropped games to Tidehaven and Yoakum.

The Lady Raiders have a couple of games still on the schedule and will be looking ot get back in the win column before the season ends.

Vs. Tidehaven, 3-0, L (25-14, 25-15, 25-21) The Lady Raiders welcomed in Tidehaven for their first game of the week on their home court. The game started with Tidehaven jumping out to an early lead and hanging onto it for the remainder of the set.

With a 1-0 set lead Tidehaven was ready to jump right into the second set and the second set was similar to the first with Tidehaven again holding onto their early lead to go up 2-0.

Before the third set Lady Raiders head coach David Leist gave his team a passionate speech to try and get them going in the third set. The speech worked and the third set was by far the most competitive set from the Lady Raiders.

The Lady Raiders came up short in the third set but only by four points, they finished the game strong and gave themselves a few positives to build on heading into their second game of the week.

Vs. Yoakum, 3-0, L (25-19, 25-9, 25-14) Coming into their second game the Lady Raiders needed to find a way to pick up a win on one of these sets and give themselves a little bit of confidence.

This team needed some more positives and started the first set with that sense of urgency. The first set saw some back-and-forth play between the two teams, but Yoakum pulled away late to go up one set to nothing.

The second set was possibly one of the worst sets the Lady Raiders have played this season mustering up only nine points. They needed to respond in the third set the Lady Raiders played with a little more fire but came up short for their second loss of the week.

The Lady Raiders’ next game is going to be against the Edna Cowgirls where they will be looking to pick up their second district win.
