The Weimar Ladycats have officially punched their ticket to the State Championship meet after coming in 4th place as a team at the Regional meet on Monday, Oct. 21.
In a race consisting of 159 runners the Ladycats had three runners finish in the top 50 and seven finish in the top 70.
Leading the way for the Ladycats was MJ Griffin who finished the race in 14 minutes and seven seconds. Griffin came in 17th place and would have qualified for the State meet as an individual if the team did not qualify.
16 seconds later her teammate joined her Aubrey Breska was the next Ladycat to cross the finish line with a time of 14 minutes and 23 seconds. Breska came in 21st place thanks to her effort but the Ladycats were just getting started.
Olivia Noska came in 45th place with a time of 15 minutes and four seconds to help the Ladycat move up the standings. The next trio of Ladycats across the finish line help them solidify the 4th place spot in the standings.
Faith Cantwell posted a 15 minute and 16 second time in the race at the regional meet coming in 53rd place. Four seconds later Tate Griffin crossed the finish line with a time of 15 minutes and 20 seconds.
Two seconds behind Griffin was Alazay Moreno with a time of 15 minutes and 22 seconds to come in 56th place. Then Alexa Moreno, who has been dealing with a lower body injury, crossed the finish line with a time of 15 minutes and 38 seconds to come in 69th place.
Weimar also had one boy run at the regional meet and that was Troy Cantwell who came in 89th place with a time of 21 minutes and 31 seconds in his first ever regional meet.
The Ladycats are heading to the State meet and will be looking to carry the momentum they have built up over the district and regional meets and put together another strong showing.
