Rumor: Vote early, vote often Reality
You only get one vote per election.
• We track when you come in and your record is marked as voted.
• You sign for your ballot.
• Voting history is tracked and is required to be turned into the state daily.
Once you check into a poll, you are checked in.
• You CAN spoil your ballot up to two times and receive a third.
• If you leave the poll with the ballot in your hand, without depositing it in the ballot box, you can’t come back into the polling place to do so.
• You cannot take your ballot outside the polling location to “take a call,” “meet someone,” or anything else. You are checked in to VOTE, so make sure you are ready.
• If you leave the polling location and leave your ballot behind it is considered an “abandoned” ballot and you don’t get to come back in to vote. Again, you are checked in to VOTE.
• You CAN bring in a sample ballot or any other PRINT materials that may assist you with the voting process.
If you choose to vote early, you can vote at any of the early voting locations.
• The vote counts the same as an election day vote. It doesn’t mean any more or less when or where you vote.
• Early voting ballots are not counted until 7:00 p.m. on election night.
ONE VOTER equals ONE BALLOT PER ELECTION Colorado County does like you to vote “often” — one time in each election throughout the year.
