Habitat for Humanity hosts 3rd annual Pumpkin Patch to benefit families

Colorado County Habitat for Humanity is excited to announce the return of its 3rd Annual Pumpkin Patch, taking place on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The free to attend event will take place at 602 Walnut Street in Columbus. All proceeds from the community- wide event will go toward supporting Habitat’s mission to provide decent affordable housing for local working families and senior citizens in need.

This year’s pumpkin patch promises to be even bigger and better, with a wider variety of pumpkins available for purchase and even more backdrops for photo opportunities for friends and families. Attendees can expect a festive atmosphere with fun activities for all ages, including:

• Pumpkin Decorating Booths

• Face Painting and Craft Stations for Kids

• Fall-Themed Photo Opportunities • Simply Jane tacos and other festival treats “We are thrilled to bring the community together again for this event,” said Shalor Townzen, Board President of Colorado County Habitat for Humanity. “The Pumpkin Patch is more than just a seasonal celebration; it’s an opportunity for our community to support local families who are working hard to achieve homeownership. Every pumpkin and treat purchased, and every game played helps us fund our building projects and makes a real difference in the lives of our neighbors.”

“This year, we are really excited about a costume contest for volunteers and youth 8th grade and younger,” said Doris Klaus, Board Secretary of CCHFH. “Our volunteers are the backbone of our organization and the youth is our future. We are blessed to be celebrating our 2nd annual Scarecrow Contest and we are so pleased to have Weimar and Eagle Lake businesses join the contest. It is fun to see everyone’s creativity in action.Anyone can vote from their favorite scarecrow via Facebook and the winner will be announced during the Pumpkin Patch.”

At the Habitat Pumpkin Patch, attendees will have the chance to learn more about Habitat for Humanity’s ongoing projects and volunteer opportunities. This family- friendly event is a great way for the community to engage with Habitat’s mission while enjoying a fun and festive fall experience.
