WEIMAR WILDCATS 58, BLOOMINGTON BOBCATS 12
The Weimar Wildcats get back in the win column and improve to 2-1 in district play this season after they defeated Bloomington 58-12 Friday night.
The Wildcats bounced back after a tough 41-0 loss that left a sour taste in the team’s mouth.
Defensively the Wildcats played with a bit of a chip on their shoulder after getting 41 points dropped on them last week. They were ready to hit someone in the mouth and came out ready to do just that against Bloomington.
The Wildcats’ defense suffocated the Bloomington offense giving them little to no time to decide what to do with the football. They held Bloomington to 12 points and played a big role in avenging last week’s loss.
Holding a team to only 12 points is impressive at any level of football, but the Wildcats still see room for improvement. With a few more district games on the schedule, they will work to meet their season goals and strive to get better every week.
Offensively the Wildcats wasted no time setting up their rushing attack and ran it down Bloomington’s throat.
Once again, the Wildcats leaned heavily on their rushing attack because when it works it works. Not only did it work on Friday night it worked to the tune of 428 yards and seven touchdowns.
Leading the way out of the back field for the Wildcats was Jerron Fisher who carried the ball 15 times for 141 yards and a touchdown. Next was Zach Norrell who had 13 carries for 97 yards and two touchdowns.
Derreon Johnson also scored two touchdowns for the Wildcats Friday night on 14 carries for 93 yards. Huxton Kloesel had six carries for 50 yards and a touchdown and Ty Chmelik had 3 carries for 29 yards and a touchdown.
The Wildcats will be on the road this week as they gear up to take on Danbury in their fourth district game of the year on Friday, Oct. 25, with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
