The Huddle
Hello, everyone and welcome back to the Huddle, where today we will be discussing a topic, I have been wanting to touch on for quite some time.
Reading the title you already know it is about Grayson Rigdon but what about it?
Well, this off-season the Columbus Cardinals went out and brought Rigdon in because they needed help at the running back position. The only problem was he had only played six-man football at the high school level up to that point.
So, there were a lot of question marks around him coming into the season. How well can he adjust? How fast can he adjust? Will he even be able to adjust? How much of an impact can he make?
He also faced a little bit of doubt from a few people as well in the sense of he’s only played six-man football and his stats are probably inflated because of that. Now in all fairness six-man football are high scoring affairs so it’s not totally incorrect to think that way, regardless Rigdon has been shutting them all up.
We are seven games into the season and Rigdon current stats are 84 carries for 1,251 yards and 23 touchdowns. I think it is safe to say he has adjusted well, he’s making a major impact, and his ability to produce at a high level has definitely translated to 11man football.
But what if there was another reason for bringing Rigdon in other than his ability to run the football effectively and add some stability to the running back position. Rigdon has also won the State Championship not once, but three times, winning the MVP in all three of those games.
Rigdon understands what it takes to win a State Championship and has plenty of experience in doing so. So, Cardinals Head Coach Matt Schobel brings Rigdon in because he saw a young man that could help his team immediately on the field but also saw a leader who can help get this team over the hump and play for the big prize in Jerry World at the end of the season.
Thank you all so much for reading the Huddle, I will see you guys next time.
