The Weimar Ladycats took on their district rival, the Shiner Lady Comanches, on Friday night and took four sets to beat them.

The Ladycats started the match with a huge win but from the second set to the end of the game Shiner was on their heels.

As mentioned earlier the first set belonged to the Ladycats, their offense was humming, and their defense was stout. It was what fans have come to expect from the Ladycats this season as they continue to stack up wins.

The final score of the first set was 25-12 giving the Ladycats a ton of confidence heading into the second set. Shiner was determined to burst the Ladycats bubble and in the second set they played with a lot more energy.

The second set was tightly contested because the Ladycats kept their foot on the gas and stayed in attack mode. Shiner was willing to meet the challenge the Ladycats presented and started by jumping out to an early lead on the Ladycats.

The set went back and forth with multiple lead changes, but Shiner went on a late run that helped put the set out of reach and even the match up. With a 25-21 win over the Ladycats in the second set the match sat at 1-1 and things were just getting started.

With all the fans anxiously waiting for the start of the third and potentially most important set of this match the teams came out and did not disappoint. In another action-packed set the Ladycats and Shiner got down to business.

Once again, the lead was never safe in this set as both teams got their opportunities to make plays and they did. This time though the Ladycats were the ones who were able to put together a late run to edge out t Shiner 25-22.

Needing one more set to win the match the Ladycats got back to how they were playing in the first set in the fourth set. High flying offense and stout defense led the way and the Ladycats picked up a 25-18 win and a district win over their rivals.

The Ladycats will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 22, when they travel to Schulenburg looking to string together a couple more wins to try to lock up a playoff spot.
