The Weimar Ladycats are currently sitting with a 2-1 record in district play after they played two district games this week.

The Ladycats battled against Flatonia and Ganado this week and they lost and won those games respectively to leave them with a 2-1 record.

Vs. Flatonia, L, 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-20) Their first game of the week was against Flatonia, who are no slouch when it comes to the game of volleyball. That being said, neither are the Ladycats and they went into the game ready to make a statement against one of the top teams in the district.

Unfortunately, for the Ladycats they found themselves struggling to get over the hump in this game, in these sets. The optics of the scoreboard are not great either with the Ladycats getting swept in straight sets, but it doesn’t reflect how the Ladycats battled relentlessly.

For starters all of the sets were extremely competitive and were decided by five or less points. So, the Ladycats were one good strong run away from winning one of these sets and giving the match a completely different look on the scoreboard.

They ended with a loss in their hands when this match was all said and done but the Ladycats were still confident in their ability and viewed themselves as one of, if not the best team in the district. They carried that confidence into their game Friday against Ganado.

@ Ganado, W, 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-14) The Ladycats got right to work on Friday from the opening serve and jumped all over Ganado to start the game.

They quickly snatched the momentum early in the game by picking up a 25-16 win in the first set. The second set was more of the same with the Ladycats not allowing Ganado a chance to breathe.

The third set was controlled and dominated by the Ladycats and shortly after they collected their second district win of the year. The Ladycats have been playing amazing volleyball as of late and will be making a strong push for a playoff spot in the coming weeks as their district schedule moves along.

Next on their schedule is a home game against Louise on their home court in Weimar on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 5 p.m.
