Library group presents inaugural Live Oaks Dead Folks historical walking tour Nov. 2

Get ready for a night of history, mystery, and fun. The Nesbitt Memorial Library Foundation (NMLF) is pleased to present its very first Live Oaks and Dead Folks historical walking tour around the Square. Imagine stepping back in time as a costumed guide leads you past the iconic buildings of Columbus, with the stories of the past springing to life as if the very walls could talk.

Before your journey begins, enjoy an engaging “Happy Hour” at the Live Oak Art Center to meet fellow guests and prepare for an unforgettable evening. Then, head out with your guide to uncover the secrets, scandals, and hidden gems of Columbus’ rich history.

After the tour, the evening continues with drinks and a gourmet dinner by award-winning Chef Raoul, set in the elegant upstairs of the Art Center. You will also be treated to nostalgic scenes of Old Columbus, making it a perfect mix of fine dining and local charm.

Not up for the walk? No problem. Enjoy a special “armchair tour” right there at the Art Center with a narrator and slide show, so you do not miss out on any of the fascinating stories.

The best part: All proceeds from the walking tour will go directly to the Nesbitt Memorial Library Foundation. The money raised will help fund the construction of an outdoor learning center and pavilion, with work set to begin prior to January 2025. So, by joining this evening of fun and history, you will be directly supporting the future of the library and community!

As a special treat, you will also have the opportunity to be among the first to purchase the highly anticipated book Live Oaks and Dead Folks – Tales and Images from the Nesbitt Memorial Library Cemetery Tour, written by Tracey Wegenhoft with contributions from Susan Chandler and historical notes by Jim Kearney.

Mark your calendars for November 2, with check-in and Happy Hour starting at 5:15 p.m., the tour kicking off at 6:00 p.m., and dinner at 7:30 p.m. With only 100 tickets available at $100 each, this is your chance to be part of an exclusive event that promises to be a highlight of the season.

Tickets are on sale now at bit.ly/2024LODFtour, or you can stop by the Nesbitt Memorial Library to purchase them in person.

You will not want to miss out on this unique chance to support the library, contribute to an exciting new project for the community, and dive into the captivating history of Columbus. Grab your ticket( s) now and get ready for a night you will not soon forget.
