LADYCATS VOLLEYBALL
The Weimar Ladycats played in one district game and one non-district game this week going up against Louise and Burton.
The Ladycats split these games picking up one win and one loss this week before they jump into their district schedule.
@ Louise, W, 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-14) The Ladycats started their week on the road in a district matchup against Louise.
The Ladycats wanted to make a big impact in their district schedule and they had an opportunity do get started on the right foot. The Ladycats jumped all over Lousie in the first set and came away with a 2511 win.
The ability of Weimar to disguise their offense and really keep defenses guessing was on full display. Weimar attacked from all areas of the court and applied all kinds of pressure to Louise.
That consistent pressure led to an identical final score in the second set of 25-11 and the Ladycats confidence was sky high heading into the third set.
In the third set the Ladycats kept their foot on the gas and slammed the door on Louise to collect their first district win of the year. they had little time to celebrate it though as they had to ga back on the road again to take on Burton.
@ Burton, L 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 19-25, 26-24, 14-16) In their second game of the week it was as backand- forth as it gets on the volleyball court. It started with a 25-21 win for Burton in the first set followed by the Ladycats winning the second set 25-22.
Buton won the third 2519, Weimar win the fourth 26-24 bringing the match to the fifth and final set. Burton ultimately came away with the win in the fifth set 16-14, but Weimar always kept things close.
If it wasn’t for a few fortunate bounces that went in Burton’s favor, then the Ladycats would stroll into their district schedule with a win over two quality teams. Instead the Ladycats are going into district with a chip on their shoulder because they know they let one slip away against Burton and are going to be back, sharper, better and stronger.
The Ladycats are scheduled to travel for their next game where they will be taking on Shiner on Tuesday, Oct. 1, looking to improve their district record to 2-0.
