The Weimar Ladycats played two games this week and swept both of the teams they matched up against.
Sweep as in not only did they win both games, but they did not lose a set during either game, the kicker is, they were the visiting team both games.
@ Fayetteville, 3-0, W (25 11, 25-7, 25-20) The Ladycats have been quietly putting together a really impressive season and on Tuesday, Sept. 17, they continued to impress.
They came into the first set and strictly handled their business. They did not let an early lead distract them from the task at hand and just kept moving on to the next point.
They picked up a win in the first set with a score of 25-11 and when they switched sides the Ladycats seemed almost more focused for the set ahead.
In the second set the Ladycats offense did whatever they wanted to, as the road team they fed off silencing the home Fayetteville crowd. Fayetteville had no answers for the Ladycats aggressive offense, and could not find away past the Ladycats defense.
They were able to muster up seven points in the second set while the Ladycats enjoyed a 2-0 lead in the match. Entering the third set Fayetteville came out with some more pushback against the Ladycats.
The Ladycats were ready for it though and finished the game by winning the third set 25-20.
@ Round Top Carmine, 3-0, W (25-13, 25-15, 25-20) With the first win of the week under their belt the Ladycats went back on the road all the way to Carmine, TX and once again handled their business.
From the opening serve the Ladycats were in firm control of this game they won the first set and never looked back. In the second set Round Top Carmine looked to jump back in the game but like they have done to so many and that’s suffocate them with their defense which helped them win the second set.
The Ladycats defense does two things, they buy time for their offense to set up properly, and they also score via blocks. In the third set they came up huge because Round Top Carmine kept things close.
The Ladycats defense were able to keep the Round Top Carmine offense long enough to end the third set with a score of 25-20. The victory caps off the Ladycats week as they look ahead to their district schedule ahead.
The Ladycats will be taking on Louise on Tuesday, Sept. 24, again on the road but the Ladycats will be looking to add a district win to their list of accomplishments.
