The Wellness Council of Greater Colorado Valley will be holding a “Stop Bullying” art contest, with entry deadlines fast approaching Sept. 19.
Any student in Colorado County, grades K through 12, are eligible to enter, and must submit their entry to their art teacher. Students can create the art in any way they choose, but it must be supplied on 8.5 x 11 card stock paper, available from any school’s art teacher.
The theme of the contest is to highlight October as Stop Bullying month, as well as to educate students on how it looks and feels to be bullied, how to stand up to a bully and what may be going through a bully’s mind.
20 total grade group and 20 total theme award winners will be decided, made up of 1st through 5th place from four grade ranges. K through 3rd grade, 4th through 6th grade, 7th through 9th grade and 10th through 12th grade.
1 Best in Show Winner will receive a plaque, medal, $35 gift card and a 174-piece art kit.
All entries will be displayed in the Upper Gallery of the Live Oak Art Center in Columbus, Oct. 1 through Oct. 30.
