The Weimar golf team hosted and competed in the Weimar varsity golf tournament last week that featured many nearby teams, including the Columbus Cardinals. The boys and the girls from both schools had strong outings as they each finished with high placements.

The Ladycats took their top individual placement from the meet with the performance of Taylor Smith. She finished in second place overall for the girls, marking the highest finish for any Weimar golfer. She shot an impressive 93 to claim the silver spot. Kelly MacAfee finished with the next-best score, shooting a 111 on the day and followed directly by Cheyenne Booker who shot a 116.

The Weimar boys had a strong day with many sub-100 totals for their scoreline. They secured sixth place as a team led by Hudson Ervin’s team-best score of 88. Brady Henke came in with the next-lowest score with a 95, and Weston Pavlik was not far behind with a score of 99. Wyatt Lacina and Huxton Kloesel shot for 110 and 112 respectively to round out the Wildcats’ performances.

The Cardinals had an impressive outing as a team with the boys taking first place overall. Kaldon Roensch nearly took the gold medal overall with his performance, just missing out on first place after a play-off to break the tie at the top of the leaderboard. Roensch finished with a team-leading 81 with several sub-100 scores following his performance. Cullen Loessin shot an 87, Adam Schobel shot for 92, Parker Meyer shot a 96 and Will Wilburn scored 103 to complete the team’s performance.

The girls also had a good outing with a second- place finish as a team. They were led by Jordyn Templeton who was the only golfer to finish with a score of less than 100 at 99. Kambrie Toppel had the next-best score with a 107. Katharine Burnett, Kerigan Faldyn and Julie Gobert scored 113, 116 and 119 respectively to bolster the scoresheet for the Lady Cards.
