Daughters of the American Revolution present American flag

The John Everett Chapter DAR, (Daughters of the American Revolution), and the Robert Rankin Chapter #62, SAR (Sons of the American Revolution), presented Richard Chance and Joy Lopez representatives with Oak Bluff Village, located at 1513 Montezuma, in Columbus, with the American flag display certificates for September 2024.

The Church Alliance Residences is passionate about flag advocacy and displays the American Flag. The Church Alliance Residences recently completed renovations on the apartments in 2024, which included adding sidewalks for handicapped residents, installing new roofs and AC units, and revamping the apartments for the tenants.

Along with Chance, who is a cherished member of VVA #1127 in Columbus, many veterans call Oak Bluff Village home.

Joe Ybarra enlisted in the United States Army as a specialist in 1982 and served for 17 years. As a combat veteran, he served two tours, one in Panama City and the second in the Gulf War. He also was involved in the rescue of the hostages from the Beirut Embassy.

Ivory Stewart, another remarkable Veteran, served in the US Marine Corps from 1967 to 1971. He saw combat in Da Nang, Vietnam. He is a very proud father of three wonderful daughters. Two followed in his footsteps and joined the military. However, they did choose to join the Army instead of the Marine Corps. One of his daughters served proudly for 20 years, and the second daughter served proudly for four years, both chose infantry motor pool like their father.

Stewart taught the authentic meaning of Semper Fidelis.

Honor and organization representatives (left to right): David Zachmeyer, Stephanie Mattix, Richard Chance, Connie Dittrich, Joy Lopez, Marti Herring, Judy Zachmeyer, Randa Simmons, Donna Pustejovsky, and Nelma and Glen Strey.
