The Rice High School track team competed in their second straight home-hosted meet during the second iteration of the Rice Relays. Both the girls and the boys for Rice had some difficulties in claiming the point-scoring placements for their respective teams. Because of their difficulties, the boys finished just outside of the top five with a sixthplace finish, and the girls finished near the bottom of their team standings.
The boys had a few performances that added a significant amount of points to the team total. Kejun Wilson had the highest placement of the day for the Raiders, finishing in third place for the 400m run. Jace Upson added another top-5 placement with his fourthplace finish in the 300m hurdles. Wylie Alley also added a top-5 individual placement with fifth place in the 100m dash. The relay teams had some success as well the team of Alley, Wilson, Upson and Jon Woods finished in third place for the 4X400m relay. The trio of Tamarion Turner, Dyren Johnson and Eric Tolliver placed fourth in two different relay races. They were joined by Robert Bennett in the 4X200m relay race, and ran with Alley in the 4X100m.
The girls’ performance did not help them climb the team standings as they competed in a limited number of individual events. The track is where much of their production was missing as only Alejandra Palacios competed in an individual race event. Both of her individual events were hurdle races. Despite few individual runners, the Lady Raiders sent relay teams for both the 4X100m and the 4X200m races. The team of Anabel Gonzales, Tatianna Mills, Raelee nelson and Adalyn Rogers got their highest finish in the 4X100m, taking fifth place as a team for their efforts.
