Eagle Lake’s Chamber of Commerce held their Market Days event on August 17 encouraging local vendors from across Colorado County to participate.
The event is held every third Saturday of the month, except for September and December, where vendors of all types, from food to crafts or even resellers, are allowed to come set up shop and “market” themselves.
Eagle Lake Chamber of Commerce Office Manager Connie Herman and Director GayeLynn Thomas both shared the need to bring an all-inclusive market event to town, allowing all products, whether made by the seller or not, to be displayed and sold.
“We tried to bring an event to town that the vendors could all do and participate in,” said Herman and Thomas. “Bringing the community together, bringing people to Eagle Lake. That is what the chamber is all about economic development.”
One of the vendors in attendance, named “Two Sisters and a Mom,” highlighted how it was their first experience at a farmer’s market and are looking forward to future markets. Kelly Almanza and her two daughters, founder Jaylin Almanza and Aaliyah Almaza, reflected on the experience and look forward to future markets to come.
“Seeing people come out of their house even though it is hot, means a lot, especially coming and supporting us,” said Kelly, “We have always wanted to do the Christmas market. We always said we would eventually do it.”
