Ladycats bring home Championship

The Weimar cross country team participated in the Royal High School Invitational and came home with the team championship in the girls 2-mile race.

Six of the top 10 racers to finish the race were Ladycats helping them rise up through the standings with ease.

The Ladycats were competing against each other during the race, and they loved every second of it. They were trying to win at all costs even if it meant having to beat their own teammates.

The Ladycats were competing against one another they celebrated each other’s success in the race. They were each other’s biggest competitors but also each other’s biggest supporters, making for a great showing of the strength of the sisterhood the Ladycats cross country team have.

The first Ladycat to cross the finish line was Alexa Moreno with a time of 13 minutes and 58 seconds. Moreno came in second place and from 3rd place to 6th place only Ladycats crossed the finish line.

MJ Griffin and Faith Cantwell were right behind Moreno in 3rd and 4th place with times of 14 minutes and eight seconds, Cantwell was only 20 seconds behind with a time of 14 minutes and 28 seconds. Next was Olivia Noska and Aubrey Breska in 5th and 6th place, Noska was four seconds bind Cantwell clocking in at 14 minutes and 32 seconds. Breska finished just one second behind Noska with a time of 14:33.

Tate Griffin came in 8th place with a time of 15 minutes flat with Alazay Moreno nine seconds behind her for 9th place. Addisyn Olive and Katharina Chaloupka took home 10th and 11th place with times of 15:26 and 15:53.

Troy Cantwell was the only runner in the boys’ race for Weimar and he posted a time of 20:28 in the 5k run to finish in 20th place.

Weimar will continue to work to improve their times and will have another chance to run at the Van Vleck meet on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Alexa Moreno came in second place at the Royal High School Invitational.
