Lady Cards beat Giddings

Lady Cards beat Giddings

The Columbus Lady Cardinals jumped right back into their season by collecting a win over the Giddings Lady Buffaloes in three sets.

Coming off a rough ending in the Lady Raider Volleyball Classic, the Lady Cards returned to form on Friday, Sept. 6, against Giddings.

The first set went in the Lady Cards’ favor by a score of 25-17, it was fast-paced and exciting backand- forth volleyball.

In the second set the offense continued to fly around the court with Caylie Neisner still risking life and limb for digs to keep points alive. From there it’s as simple as set the ball up for one of Taylor Morrow, Gracie Schobel, Harper Gerik or Riley Kainer to spike the ball down.

The Lady Cards offense is exciting and when they settle into a game they can compete with the best of teams.

Another thing that the Lady Cards have stressed in off season training is defense and the thing about this defensive group is the long the game goes the better they get. Case and point in the final two sets of the match the Lady Cards gave up only 20 points.

The Lady Cards closed the match out shortly after that with a score of 25-13 giving them a ton of confidence heading into the third set. In the third set the offense did their thing but defensively the Lady Cards allowed only seven points to secure a win in the match.

With the Lady Cards back in the win column they will be looking to continue their winning ways on Tuesday, Sept. 10, when they travel to Schulenburg to take on the Shorthorns.
