WEIMAR — The Lady Cards experienced many ups and downs as they battled through the Weimar tournament. Through three games, they were able to secure only one victory in their opening matchup against the tournament hosts.

Vs Weimar, W, 2-0

The Lady Cards got off to a strong start against the rival Weimar Ladycats as Columbus picked up their only victory of the Weimar-hosted tournament. Columbus got their best overall performance against the tournament hosts as they scored their only runs of the tournament in the opening game. They also had their best defensive outing with their third shutout victory of the season.

Vs East Bernard, L, 2-0

Columbus’ next game against East Bernard did not go as smoothly as their offense struggled to get anything going. Despite picking up three hits in the game, they were not able to bring any runners home as they suffered their first shutout loss of the season. They held up rather well defensively, allowing just one run in the second inning and keeping the same score until the bottom of the fifth inning where East Bernard added another run. The Lady Cards never found a response to the scoring as they fell in their second game of the tourney.

Vs El Campo, L, 3-0

The tournament finale did not bring any more good fortune to the Lady Cards as they suffered their biggest loss of the competition. Once again, Columbus struggled to score runs despite a solid effort from their defense. The two teams played through three scoreless innings until El Campo started the scoring with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Columbus once again held them scoreless in the fifth before allowing two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. With just one half-inning remaining to try to put points on the board, Columbus never made any meaningful progress on the bases as they fell to the tournament-ending defeat.
