Sheriff ’s Report
WEDNESDAY, MAY 1
At approximately 1:50 a.m., deputy Blaha was doing a security check at a business located in Alleyton when he observed a suspicious vehicle. After further investigation, it was determined that there was a theft that occurred, but the business wished not to pursue charges. Case cleared.
FRIDAY, MAY 3
At approximately 3:12 p.m., deputy Gorman was advised to a public service in reference to a terroristic threat. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case inactive.
At approximately 5:45 p.m., deputy Blaha while patrolling Hwy 90 near Glidden conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. After further investigation, Randy Dulane, age 41, of Cuero was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1>=4G<200G - Felony 2, Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon - Felony 3, and Possession of Controlled Substance PG 3<28g - Misdemeanor “A”. Case cleared by adult arrest.
SATURDAY, MAY 4
At approximately 5:43 p.m., deputy Frey was dispatched to a disturbance that was taking place in the 5000 block of East 2nd Street Sheridan, Tx. After further investigation, it was determined that there was no disturbance and no charges to be placed. Case cleared.
SUNDAY, MAY 5
At approximately 2:57 a.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to the 1900 block of FM 532 Weimar, Tx in reference to an assault that occurred at a bar near Glidden. After further investigation, Alejandro Rodriguez, age 26, of Glidden, was arrested for Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon - Felony 2, and Erik Manuel Burgos, age 33, of Weimar, was arrested for Terroristic Threat Family Members - Misdemeanor “A”. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 12:04 a.m., deputy Johnson was dispatched to the 1000 block of CR 255 S Sheridan, Tx in reference to a stolen firearm. After further investigation, information was received and the firearm was entered into TCIC/ NCIC as stolen. Case is active.
At approximately 9:00 p.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to the 1100 block of CR 2103 Weimar, Tx in reference to dogs chasing livestock. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case active.
MONDAY, MAY 6
At approximately 11:03 a.m., deputy Mican was dispatched to the 2200 block of Walnut in Columbus in reference to a local church near Frelsburg, Tx receiving threatening emails. After further investigation, it was determined the emails were not threatening as imminent bodily harm. Information was also forwarded to Austin County Sheriff’s Office. Case information only.
At approximately 6:37 p.m., deputy Melendez was dispatched to the 200 block of 7th Street in Glidden, Tx in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, Keith Torres, age 37, of Glidden, was taken into custody for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Misdemeanor “C” and Criminal Mischief - Misdemeanor “A” after he damaged a CCSO patrol vehicle. Case cleared by arrest.
TUESDAY, MAY 7
At approximately 2:45 p.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 4800 block of South Interstate Highway 10 Alleyton, Tx regarding a theft. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case active.
At approximately 11:50 p.m., deputy Frey conducted a traffic stop near Hwy 71 and CR 16 for a speed over limit violation. After further investigation, Don Perry, age 37, of Blessing, Tx was charged with two out of county warrants and cited for Possession of Drug paraphernalia - Misdemeanor “C”. Case cleared by adult arrest.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 8
At approximately 10:40 a.m., deputy Gorman was alerted of a subject fleeing from the County Courthouse in Columbus, Tx. After further investigation, Michael White, age 23, of Wharton, Tx was arrested on Evading Arrest/ Detention - Misdemeanor “A”, Resist Arrest/Search/Transport - Misdemeanor “A”, and an out of county warrant. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 10:00 p.m., deputy Frey was dispatched to a public service in reference to an assault that occurred on March 25, 2024 in the 2000 block of IH-10 in Weimar. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case active.
THURSDAY, MAY 9
At approximately 6:34 p.m., deputy Frey was dispatched to the 5000 block of West 4th Street Sheridan, Tx in reference to a burglary. After further investigation there were signs of forced entry and the missing items were not located at this time. Case active pending further identifying information.
FRIDAY, MAY 10
At approximately 1:39 p.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 1300 block of Little Public Road Eagle Lake, Tx regarding property damage. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case cleared.
At approximately 2:23 p.m., deputy Zwahr was dispatched to a public service in reference to credit/debit card abuse that occurred at a business on US90 near Sealy, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case is active.
SATURDAY, MAY 11
At approximately 3:49 p.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to Interstate Highway 10 Westbound Rest Stop in Glidden, Tx in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, Ernesto Rodriguez, age 64, of Houston, Tx was arrested on an outstanding warranty out of Harris County. Rodriguez was transported to the Colorado County Detention Center, where he was released to jail staff without incident. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 11:09 p.m., deputy Byars was approached by a male who stated his truck had been damaged in the 4800 block of US Highway 90 A Altair, Tx. Upon speaking with the complainant he obtained enough information to generate a report. Case inactive.
SUNDAY, MAY 12
At approximately 6:03 p.m., deputy Melendez was dispatched to a disturbance in the 1400 block of Business 71 in Columbus, Tx. After further investigation, Jonathan Varges, age 20, of Houston, was arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Injury Family Member Misdemeanor “A” and Criminal Mischief - Misdemeanor “A”. At approximately 9:38 a.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to Shorebird Lane Rock Island, Tx in reference to a theft. After further investigation, information was received and the victim did not desire prosecution. Case information only.
At approximately 11:15 a.m., deputy Johnson was dispatched to the Sheriff’s Office Lobby in reference to an assault that occurred in the Alleyton area. After further investigation, a report was taken for Family Violence. Case still pending further investigation.
At approximately 11:24 a.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to Tinkler Street Rock Island, Tx in reference to a possible animal cruelty. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case information only.
FRIDAY, MAY 17
At approximately 1:55 p.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to the 7800 block of State Highway 71 Garwood, Tx in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, Anthony Castenada, age 26, of Garwood, Tx, was arrested for Assault by Contact - Misdemeanor “C”. Case cleared by adult arrest.
