LA GRANGE — The Red Door Fund for Mental Health of the Fayette Community Foundation met with mental health providers, primary care providers, and people with lived mental health experience to discuss gaps and opportunities for mental health services in the area.
The meeting was held Feb. 23 at St. Paul Lutheran Church and was the first in a series to be held as part of the “Multiplying Our Mental Health Forces Initiative” funded by a grant from Methodist Healthcare Ministries.
According to a release, thirty members of the community were invited to attend based on their knowledge of and experience with mental health services in the area.
During the meeting, attendees answered questions about the critical issues that needed to be addressed, the challenges experienced or foreseen for those seeking services, the programs and care networks that already exist, programs and services that need to be explored, and the concerns members had about moving forward, according to a release.
A spokesperson for the organization said more meetings will be held in the future to further explore solutions to the severe shortage of mental health services and providers in the area.
