The Huddle
Hello, everyone and welcome back to the Huddle where I am talking about my favorite time of the year.
That’s right it is officially week one for all the teams in Colorado county scheduled to kick off the season this Friday.
All the teams are on the road this week so I thought I would take this week and have a little bit of fun and say how each team can make their home opener an even more grand event. What better way to do that than with the right entrance song for each team to run out of the tunnel only to be greeted by their faithful fans.
To be clear I am not saying the teams should do this, but I think it can give the fans a little more pomp and circumstance for something they are already excited about.
Columbus Cardinals Starting with the home-town Columbus Cardinals I think the perfect entrance song for them is “Form Whom the Bell Tolls” by Metallica.
First things first running out of the tunnel to Metallica isn’t the most original idea but using “For Whom the Bell Tolls” is original compared to the more notable “Enter Sandman” by the band. It gives a more ominous feel because as the bell rings in the song anticipation only grows as fans wait with bated breath to see the Red and White take the field.
Then the guitars come in with an extremely powerful and strong riff that really brings the song to life and gives anyone listening to it an accelerated pulse bringing the fans to their feet as the excitement of Friday night lights fill the air.
Rice Raiders
For the Rice Raiders I have chosen the them song for the show “Black Sails” and if you have heard the song you know why I chose this.
It’s a pirate-y sounding song with a beat drop and bass. Raiders are pirates so I thought naturally they went together.
Just imagine the Raiders running out of the tunnel, stadium lights flashing and this epic pirate sounding song blaring out of the speakers. I mean, I’m getting a fire in my belly just picturing it.
Look it sounds silly because I know when people read “Pirate-y song” they think of something more along the lines of a sea shanty. But I promise you if you listen to the song and envision the Rice Raiders taking the field to it then you might agree with me.
Weimar Wildcats
Last but certainly not least is the Weimar Wildcats and I am going with a bit of a chalk pick here and I’ll explain it like this. They are called the Wildcats when I think of Wildcats I think of that animal in the wild or the jungle.
Some of you may have guessed what song I chose based on that statement alone and it was pretty in the nose if I am being honest. The song I chose for the Wildcats to run onto the field to for their home opener is none other than “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns N’ Roses.
I mean I don’t have to explain how amazing the song is it’s well known universally . From the opening riff all the way down to the last chorus, everyone knows or can recognize the song when it’s played.
It’s a great song to fire up a crowd and with the Wildcats hosting week two in the jungle their fans will come alive upon hearing this song and seeing their team take the field for the first time.
Thank you all for reading the Huddle this week, and I look forward to seeing you all out at the field soon.
