Columbus El Campo cross-country results

The Columbus Cardinals Cross Country team traveled to El Campo for their first meet of the season where both the girls and boys team finished in 4th place at the meet.

This meet severed a kind of a baseline for the Cardinals because they got to see where they are at as a team and how much more they can improve throughout the season.

The girls’ team got things started and Chloe Ross picked up right where she left off last season. Ross came in first place with a time of 12 minutes and 27 seconds, which was the fastest time by any Cardinal at the meet.

Kaylea Foster was the next Lady Card to cross the finish line with a time of 13 minutes and 33 seconds to finish in 13th place. Madison McRee and Lexi Kulhanek with times of 15 minutes and five seconds and 15 minutes and 22 seconds respectively.

McRee came in 25th place while Kulhanek came in 29th place with Elana Rios finishing the race in the top 50 with a time of 18 minutes and 25 seconds.

The Lady Cards were awarded 4th place for their efforts and set the stage for the boys to turn in a solid performance as well.

The boys had five runners compete in the El Campo meet with all five finishing in the top 40. The first member of the boys’ team to cross the finish line was Elijah Owen who came in 4th place with a time of 18 minutes and 50 seconds.

The next two to cross were Christian Martinez in 10th place and Zeyon Ramirez in 12th place with times of 19 minutes and 42 seconds and 19 minutes and 50 seconds. Keegan Escamilla and John Foster rounded out the Cardinals in the race coming in 27th and 37th place.

Escamilla finished with a time of 21 minutes and 10 seconds while Foster finished with a time of 22 minutes and 17 seconds. The Boys also earned 4th place for their efforts and are excited to hit the ground running at their next meet.

Their next met is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 28, in Schulenburg.
