Weimar VFW Auxiliary remembers member Neiser

The Weimar VFW Auxiliary to Post 5875 met for its regular meeting on Aug. 13 with nine members present. A School of Instruction on Rituals and Programs was conducted before the meeting started. The meeting was opened according to the ritual by President Charlene Muras.

The Charter was draped in memory of member Darlene Neiser who passed away on August 6, 2024.

A donation will be made to the National Home in her memory. Members voted to donate to the Hospital Pledge, suicide prevention, the Team Texas Project for the National Home, the Scholarship Endowment Fund, and the purchase of a Texas flag for Weimar Elementary. Of note, our Casen Strickland was awarded $150 at the State level of competition in the Illustrating America contest K-2.

Correspondence was read by President Charlene Muras regarding VFW Facebook pages and membership. There are 14 annual members and 20 life members for 34 members.

Marty Heinrich reported that the PP and VOD contests will be underway at schools soon. Margie Janecka suggested a donation of $.50 per member to the Hospital Pledge. There were seven residents, nine veterans and one Auxiliary member present at the Men’s Coffee at Parkview on July 19. Monica Stock reported she sent three birthday cards in July. Charlene Muras encouraged members to join the Action Corps at vfw.org/advocacy/ grassrootsefforts/thevfw-action- corps-weekly in order to get information of legislation affecting veterans. There are pins, calendars, and raffle tickets for sale now.

The District President will attend the Tuesday, Sept. 10 meeting so there will be a light supper at 5:30 pm. For the Good of the Order, Jeanette Koenig reminded members to fly the US flag on VJ Day Monday, Sept. 2 and Patriot’s Day Wednesday, Sept 11.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, Sept.10 at 6:00 pm at the Weimar VFW Hall kitchen.
