Multiple murder trials to begin

Two separate Colorado County murder cases stemming from 2021 and 2022 respectively, were set to be up for jury trial Aug. 26, but were issued a continuance instead.

Ethan Lee Dulany and Roxana Gonzalez, both of Eagle Lake, moved forward with their jury trials after years of deliberation from both parties, the involved legal counsels, court representatives and Colorado County officials.

Dulany, one of three allegedly involved in the 2021 Columbus murder of Keaton Devlin Hancock, is the last to appear in court for trial.

The two other suspects in the case, Jose “Joey” Casanova and Cairo Ruvalcaba, were both found guilty of murder in separate trials earlier this year.

County prosecutors argued at Casanova’s trial that Hancock’s killing was in retaliation to the murder of Jonathon Segura, a fellow Eagle Lake resident, just an hour prior to the incident, according to an article written by the Citizen earlier in the year.

In addition to the murder charge, Dulany is also facing an aggravated robbery charge and a theft of property charge.

Gonzalez, the other indicted individual up for trial, is accused of intentionally shooting and murdering her husband, Alfredo Gonzalez, at their home on September 24, 2022.

A later date will be scheduled for the jury trial at the next hearing.
