The Weimar Ladycats volleyball team is back in action and decided to start their season by participating in the Columbus Varsity Volleyball Classic.

The Ladycats ended up coming in second in the Silver Bracket of the tournament and faced plenty of challenges throughout the tournament.

Day one

The Ladycats opened the tournament in the morning slate being the first game of the first day of the tournament. The Ladycats got right down to business despite the 8 a.m. start and took down East Bernard in two sets.

The scores of the sets were 25-18 and 25-22 giving the Ladycats a good early test to get things started. The tournament only got more competitive in game two when it took all three sets to decide a winner against Lexington.

The Ladycats lost the first set, an intense and tightly contested game, by 29-27. They bounced back in the second set, which was just as fierce and competitive as the first, but the Ladycats won with a score of 26-24.

In the third set was also extremely competitive as the race to 15 points was on. The Ladycats stayed strong in their pursuit of victory and walked away with a 1512 win.

Sitting with a 2-0 record the Ladycats came into to game three against Devine looking to close out day one with a perfect record. The game went three sets again in another good test for the Ladycats.

Devine took the first set 25-23 with Weimar bouncing back again in the second set with a 25-20 win. The third set came down to the wire with a final score of 1512, the Ladycats making a strong push at the end but falling just short of their first loss of the tournament.
