The Wellness Council had a great kick off to the fall school term at the Back to School Bash in Eagle Lake this past Saturday. It was a fun way for the Wellness Council to engage adults and students about Mental Health, highlight our fall monthly meeting schedule, and to speak with kids about the upcoming Stop Bullying Art Contest.
Kids were encouraged to speak with their art teachers about the contest, giving them a chance to express their feelings regarding bullying. Materials will be distributed to all schools in Colorado County in late August. Entry deadline is September 20th. All art will be on display in the Live Oak Art Center through October. We will have 45 individual awards.
The Wellness Council will start their monthly awareness campaigns for the fall on September 12th with a focus on National Suicide Prevention and Awareness. Dr. Kenneth Buckle, PhD from Gratia Plena Counseling will be our speaker. Meetings are open to the public and start at 12 p.m. in the Colorado County Courthouse in Columbus.
