Rice’s Little League teams are in for a big surprise when they take the field next season with turf fields being installed.
Construction of the fields is still on schedule with the end of next spring’s construction set.
For a bit of a refresh on the project, there are plans to install two new turf fields with new concession stands, batting cages, and revamped dugouts and fences. Currently, Rice has the turf laid down for one of the fields while the other was being diligently worked on during a back-to-school event hosted at the field on Saturday, Aug. 10, where kids got a chance to get a look at the new fields too.
The old fences for both fields have been removed and stakes have been laid down for the new fence to be placed. So, the fields are coming together at a very healthy pace and have made a good amount of progress on the project.
In addition to having one of the turf fields done the new batting cage is also up and standing. The second turf field should be done within the coming days and then fences will be laid down and work on the concession stand will begin.
