WINTERMANN LIBRARY SUMMER READING ENDS

The Summer Reading Program at the Wintermann Library in Eagle Lake had its closing party on July 24. There were 31 students and 14 adults in attendance. The group was served pizza (by Simple Simon’s in Eagle Lake), cookies and lemonade. Prizes were presented to the winners of the drawing. They included Brandon Ruvalcaba, a Lego McLaren Car; Solara Reyes, Squish Mallow Bee; Ximena Flores, Rainbow Nail Art; Emma Supak, Rubber Band Bracelet Maker; Camila Elizonda, Remote Control car; Ava Castillo, Lego Gabby’s Dollhouse; Chloe Hernandez, Rope Swing; Darly Aguado, Family Game Night; Nicholas Calderon, Lego City Car; Kenslee Clower, Fashion Bead Bracelets; and Angie Cabello, Hydro Splash Water Gun.

The seven-week program consisted of programs by Wild Things Zoofari, Lower Navidad River Authority, Texas A&M Science Road Show, Houston Museum of Natural Science, A Real Mad Hatter Bubble Show and Talewise. Each show was well attended by those registered for the program.

When the party was over, each student in attendance was given a free book to take home. The program encourages students to read to help their levels during the school year. The free books offered help with that goal.

Wintermann Library would like to thank the Dollar General Literacy Foundation for providing the grant to fund the program.
