Two Columbus athletes commit to college team

Two Columbus athletes commit to college team

With the start of football season just around the corner a couple, of Columbus’ seniors decided to choose what school they will be attending next.

Both quarterback Adam Schobel and defensive end Anthony Shorter have chosen the schools they want to continue their football careers at.

Starting with Schobel he has officially flipped his commitment from Oklahoma State to TCU. He will be attending the same school his dad, Head Football Coach Matthew Schobel, and uncle, Defensive Coordinator Aaron Schobel, both attended.

The 6’4 190-pound quarterback started this journey by considering offers from Sam Houston State, University of Houston and Baylor. He initially settled on Baylor before flipping to Oklahoma State and then ultimately deciding to flip his commitment once again to go to the same school as his dad and uncle, TCU.

In Shorter’s case the 6-3 220-pound defensive lineman racked up 10 sacks, 19 tackles for loss and 55 total tackles. He received offers from Prairie View A&M and Sam Houston State.

On Saturday, Aug. 3, Shorter officially made his decision to commit to Sam Houston State.

It is an exciting time for both athletes, both are entering their senior seasons and want to improve their overall game and starts in their last season as a Columbus Cardinal.
