Sheriff ’s Report

COLORADO COUNTY SHERIFF REPORT SATURDAY, APR. 13

At approximately 5:00 p.m., deputy Melendez was dispatched to the area of IH-10 Westbound near MM 694 in Columbus in reference to disorderly conduct. Deputies spoke to both parties involved and were able to obtain information to conduct an investigation. The case is active.

At approximately 6:06 p.m., deputy Litvik was dispatched to the 5500 block of West 2nd St in Sheridan in reference to an animal bite. After investigation, a citation was issued to the dog owner for Vaccination of Dogs and Cats required. Case cleared.

SUNDAY, APR. 14

At approximately 8:40 a.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 1700 block of Reese Lane in reference to property damage. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case information only.

At approximately 2:52 p.m., deputy Zwahr was dispatched to a public service in reference to Fraud that occurred at the 6500 block of Hwy 71 S near Garwood. He made contact with the victim, received information, and a report was taken. Information only at this time.

At approximately 3:36 a.m., deputy Byars was conducting a DWI investigation on IH-10 near Weimar. While conducting the investigation, a vehicle struck an unoccupied Weimar PD unit on scene causing minimal injuries to the driver. Case information only.

TUESDAY, APR. 16

At approximately 12:27 a.m., deputy Johnson initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 4000 block of IH-10 near Alleyton for a traffic violation. After further investigation, Lezlie Grace Parvin, age 19, of Columbus was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1>=4G<200G - Felony 2 and Cody Besch, 35, of Alleyton was arrested for two out of state felony warrants. Case cleared by adult arrest.

WEDNESDAY, APR. 17

At approximately 10:46 a.m., deputy Zwahr was dispatched to a public service in reference to Fraud. Information was received and a report was taken. Case active.

THURSDAY, APR. 18

At approximately 6:05 a.m., deputy Ohl was dispatched to the 2200 block of Walnut St in Columbus in reference to a stolen vehicle from a residence in Glidden. After further investigation, James Goodwin Jr., age 33, of Glidden was arrested on a warrant issued from this case for Theft of Property >=$750<$2,500 - Misdemeanor “A”. Case cleared by adult arrest.

At approximately 7:56 a.m., deputy Villanueva was dispatched to an attempt to locate a vehicle traveling on IH-10 West near Weimar in reference to a missing child in the trunk of the car. He intercepted the vehicle and conducted an investigation for the missing child. No child was found in the vehicle. The subject was released without further incident. Information only.

FRIDAY, APR. 19

At approximately 4:11 a.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the 1900 block of County Road 151 in Columbus in reference to arson. Upon his arrival, he met with the complainant to obtain information to generate a report. Case active.

At approximately 8:12 p.m., deputy Johnson was dispatched to 1000 CR 255 Sheridan in reference to Criminal Trespass. After further investigation information was received and a report was taken. Case active.

At approximately 6:32 p.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to the 1200 block of Abel Road near New Ulm for a subject trespassing. After further investigation, the suspect was issued a Criminal Trespass Warning. Case cleared.

SATURDAY, APR. 20

At approximately 8:42 p.m., deputy Johnson was dispatched to 9th Street in Glidden in reference to an intoxicated subject. After further investigation, Omar Martinez, age 35, of Columbus, was arrested for Public Intoxication - Misdemeanor “C”. Case cleared by adult arrest.

SUNDAY, APR. 21

At approximately 12:57 a.m., deputy Blaha was dispatched to IH-10 near the 708 MM in reference to a motor vehicle accident. After further investigation, the wrecked vehicle was reported stolen out of Polk County and recovered on scene with no suspects. Case cleared.

At approximately 10:59 a.m., deputy Cantu was dispatched to an abandoned vehicle located at FM 1693 and County Road 112, Garwood. Upon further investigation, it was discovered the vehicle was stolen off a property located on Tinkler Street in Rock Island. Case cleared.

At approximately 12:58 p.m., deputy Frey was informed of a black bull calf that had been dropped off at the Columbus Livestock Auction barn located in the 2000 block of Reese Lane. Upon further investigation, the bull calf had been estrayed from the 5000 block of US Hwy 90A, Eagle Lake, Tx. Case active.

At approximately 2:33 p.m., deputy Frey was dispatched to a public service in reference to an estray bull located in the 2000 block of FM 155 S, Weimar, Tx. Upon further investigation, the bull’s owner was not located. The animal was transported to the Columbus Livestock Auction Barn to be housed during the estray process.

MONDAY, APR. 22

At approximately 9:56 a.m., deputy Zwahr was dispatched to the 1000 block of Tree Farm Road in reference to a stolen vehicle. Information was received and a report was taken. The vehicle will be entered into TCIC/NCIC as stolen. Case active.

At approximately 1:55 p.m., deputy Zwahr was dispatched to a public service in reference to credit card abuse at a business on Hwy 90 near Sealy, Tx. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case active.

At approximately 6:38 p.m., deputy Byars was dispatched to the 1100 block of Hwy 90A near Sheridan in reference to issuing a criminal trespass warning. Upon arrival he met with the complainant and obtained information to generate a report. Case active.

TUESDAY, APR. 23

At approximately 2:21 p.m., deputy Melendez conducted a traffic stop in the 2000 block of County Road 106 in Columbus. After further investigation, the passenger was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. The subject was cited and released. The case was cleared by summons.

At approximately 10:05 p.m., deputy Villanueva was dispatched to the 1100 block of CR 150 near Columbus in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, Mitchell Lee Guerrero, age 31, of Columbus was arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Injury to Family Member - Misdemeanor “A”. Case cleared by adult arrest.

WEDNESDAY, APR. 24

At approximately 7:30 a.m., deputy Weido met with Austin County Sheriff’s Office Investigators regarding possible stolen property located in the 1200 block of Bostik Road in Cat Spring. The investigation resulted in the recovery of two stolen vehicles from Austin County and property from recent burglaries in Austin and Colorado Counties. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Quincey Kyle Janszen, age 18, of Cat Spring, Tx.

At approximately 12:25 p.m., deputy Gorman was dispatched to the Sheriff’s Office lobby in reference to a theft that occurred in the 4000 block of S IH-10 near Columbus. After further investigation, information was received and a report was taken. Case active.

At approximately 3:25 p.m., deputy Lopez met with two complainants in reference to them being assaulted at a gas station located in Altair on Monday, April 22, 2024. After further investigation, it was determined none of the individuals involved wished to pursue charges. Case cleared.

At approximately 8:10 p.m., deputy Frey was dispatched to the 1000 block of Conner Crossing Road, Columbus in reference to a structure fire. Upon further investigation it was determined that the fire had been lit intentionally. Case active.
