COLUMBUS ISD
Columbus ISD held a school board meeting July 15 approving the optional flexible school day for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.
The approval follows suit with other districts in Colorado County, who have acted to approve their own flexible school calendars as well.
Cash receipts and disbursements for June were also discussed, with cash receipts at $739,221 and cash disbursements at $2,225,649. The cash position as of June 30 was $15,363,351.
The district also recommended that cafeteria prices for CES, CJHS, and CHS remain the same for the 2024-25 school year.
The board additionally approved the district’s liability, privacy and information security and property insurance coverage policy with TASB (Texas Association of School Boards) as presented. The policy protects Columbus ISD given the coverage agreement is a “risk sharing and risk participation agreement” and is not a contract of insurance.
The board approved the adoption of the order authorizing the issuance and sale of Columbus Independent School District Unlimited Tax School Building Bonds, Series 2024.
Imposing this tax and providing for the security and payment thereof would allow the execution and delivery of a paying agent/registrar agreement; approving the preparation of the official statement; and enacting other provisions incident and relating to the subject and purpose of the order.
Columbus ISD board members also approved naming Marcella Pflughaupt as the officer to calculate the no-new-revenue tax rate and the voter-approval tax rate for the taxing unit.
