Weimar Pole-Vaulter named to super elite team

The Weimar track team had one athlete selected to the Texas High School Coaches Association Super Elite team released earlier this week.

Katharina Chaloupka was the lone track star from Weimar, and looking at the season, it’s obvious to see why.

Chaloupka embodied what it meant to be a track and field athlete this season by dominating in both categories. When it came to the Pole Vault event Chaloupka made it all the way to State, which is already impressive, but how she got there gives a good bit of insight into why she was an easy decision for the Super Elite team.

She was one of, if not, the best pole vaulters in the district, which is a proven fact. She was in the top 3 in every pole vault event she competed in and completely torched the competition at the District and Area meets.

Chaloupka won the District Pole Vault event by clearing a height of 10 feet and six inches. She followed that up by clearing 10 feet nine inches at the Area Meet and then 11 feet and three inches at State.

She took on all challengers and her determination to be the best never swayed. No moment was too big for Chaloupka and because of that she was able to showcase her talent on the biggest stage, the State Meet.

She was an elite-level pole vaulter but also lent her services in a few of the running events, specifically, the 100m, 4x100m and 4x200m. Chaloupka came in 5th and 8th place in the 100m at the District and Area Meets respectively.

In the 4x100m she helped the team achieve personal records at both the District and Area Meets and came in 9th place at both. The 4x200m was the same posting personal records at both the District and Area Meets and finishing in 11th place at both.

In addition to being named to the Super Elite team Chaloupka was also selected to the Victoria Advocate All-Area team for Track and Field. While it seems as though Chaloupka had an outstanding season for the Wildcats, it’s because she did.

But the kicker is she is heading into her senior season this year, so the story on Chaloupka is just starting, and she will be looking to leave a lasting impression on the program in her senior season.
