Plenty of goals for Lady Cards in consecutive wins

Columbus scored 10 total goals between the two games which marked their best two-game offensive performance of the season. They also unlocked another gear defensively, allowing just one total goal this week.

Vs Palacios, W, 2-1

Columbus started the week with one of their tightest wins of the season, but also proved that they can find the necessary goals during clutch situations. Riley Turner got the scoring started by smashing a 40-yarder into the back of the net in the first half. The Lady Cards doubled their goal count with another shot from Savannah Daniel that found the net in the second half to secure the lead and the victory.

While Columbus did not allow many goals from the Sharkettes, they dealt with constant pressure as Palacios consistently attacked the Lady Cards defense. They were able to hold them to just one goal largely due to the efforts of goalkeeper Lexi Ybarra who stopped 17 shots on target to stifle even the best chances for Palacios to score.

Vs Rice, W, 8-0

The Lady Cards had their best offensive game of the year against their Colorado County rivals, the Rice Lady Raiders. Columbus got the scoring started early and never looked back as they ran out to the big, clean-sheet victory. Scarlett McClelland was one of the team leaders in scoring with a brace, knocking in both of her goals in the first half as well as an assist to Savannah Daniel. Paris Owen and Lisbeth Gonzalez joined Daniel with goals in the first half as well.

In the second half, Riley Turner knocked in another long-distance shot from 35 yards out. Daniel picked up the second goal of her brace in the second half, and Karina Rubio capped off the outing with a goal of her own.
