WEIMAR PD APPOINTS NEW OFFICER

WEIMAR – The Weimar Police Department recently welcomed a new officer into their ranks as Chief Mark Jameson accepted and aided the swearing in of Officer J. Austin Moore.

A local graduate of Rice Consolidated High School, Moore continued his education at Texas Lutheran University before completing his degree at Wharton Junior College.

Moore stayed in Wharton for his in-depth policing training, attending the Wharton County Law Enforcement Academy and graduating in 2011. After his academy graduation, Moore started his police career working for the El Campo Police Department. He eventually moved on to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department where he was promoted to Narcotics Investigator.

Moore’s extensive experience has helped him become a valuable asset to each department of which he has been a part. He earned an Advanced Police Officer License after receiving further officer training and earned merits from his department leaders including a Deputy of the Quarter award with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Officer Moore had his official swearing in on Thursday, June 27 as he prepares for the next stage of his policing career.
