Ladycats All-State selections

Ladycats All-State selections

The Weimar Ladycats had several players named to the All-District team and the Academic All-District team but now it is time for the All-State selections for the Ladycats.

Two seniors were named to the All-State team along with one junior while three seniors were selected for the Academic All-State team and one player was even selected for Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star Game.

Hannah Fisbeck and Izzy Reeves were the two seniors selected to be on the All-State softball team. Both were fantastic hitters for the Ladycats this season, having a .408 or higher batting average and hitting 26 doubles combined.

Defensively they were just as effective and rarely made mistakes. In the 37 games the Ladycats played this season Reeves and Fisbeck combined for only 12 errors while Taylor Smith, who was the Ladycat junior selected to the All-State team, handled business int he circle.

Smith pitched 191 innings for the Ladycats this season, and she never complained once about the workload placed upon her as the starting pitcher. In that time, she struck out 292 batters which impressively close to 300 strikeouts in 37 games.

Offensively, Smith was just as productive, making her best Shohei Ohtani impression by hitting 13 home runs, two triples and 16 doubles this season. Smith also posted a batting average of .463 to aid her case for making the All-State team.

Smith also earned herself a spot on the TCGA All-Star team and will have a chance to play in the All-Star game.

The Academic All-State team included Fisbeck and Reeves, who were joined by fellow senior Chloe Grifaldo. These made sure they took care of their schoolwork and made sure it received the proper attention so they could produce and contribute as much as they did on the field this season.

All these Ladycats earned their spots on the All-State team and the perfect cherry for the seniors to end their seasons.
