COLUMBUS — The Columbus Chamber of Commerce awarded a total of $19,251.66 to five businesses and non-profits through the Columbus Business Revitalization Grant.
The CBRG, which is an extension of the Chamber, officially rolled out in late October 2022. The Chamber said the grant committee met in early February to review and approve grants.
According to a release, A Better Columbus received monies to add and improve trash receptacles around the Courthouse Square and around town, All Thai’d Up was presented money to improve signage at their location on Walnut Street, Live Oak Art Center received funding to help pay for new exit signs at the Gallery, Twisted Steel Design in Weimar will be adding a new awning to their storefront, and Chef Raoul Catering received funds to purchase a new dough sheeter to make beignets.
The Chamber said due to the success of Magnolia Days Festival in recent years, MDF Committee Chairman Amber Becerra used that success to lead the Chamber Board in laying the groundwork for a grant program to provide financial assistance to local businesses and non-profits for special projects.
“This community rallies together, and the way our sponsors, citizens, and visitors show up to bring our town to life for Magnolia Days, and all year long, it just makes sense that we put that support back into our businesses, so we can keep growing,” Becerra said.
The Chamber said the purpose of the CBRG is to empower chamber members to enhance and improve their businesses and non-profits. According to a release, all Chamber members, in good standing with the Chamber, were eligible to apply for grants up to $5,000.
The Chamber said it was pleased to award the grant recipients and looks forward to seeing their finished projects. The next grant cycle will start Oct. 1.
