Weimar VFW meets for regular meeting

The Weimar VFW Auxiliary to Post 5875 met for its regular meeting on June 11 with seven members present. The meeting was opened according to the Ritual by President Charlene Muras.

Correspondence was read by President Charlene Muras regarding the training agenda at the next meeting on July 12-13 in Dallas.

There are currently 15 annual members and 20 life members for a total of 35 members.

At the Men’s Coffee at Parkview on May 17 there were two Auxiliary volunteers, 7 veterans and 10 residents. The next Coffee is on June 21. The VFW Post 5875 shared with the Auxiliary $550 for half of the money collected for Buddy Poppies at the Memorial Day drive-through dinner on May 26. A membership application is out to a prospective member.

Charlene Muras reminded members to attend the free dance on Saturday June 15 from 4-7 pm at the VFW Hall and to help serve pizza.

Annual members can pay dues now, but the money will not be recorded until after July 1.

For the Good of the Order, Jeanette Koenig reminded members to fly the US Flag on Flag Day June 14, Father’s Day June 16 and Independence Day July 4. She also read a history of the US Flag and how it came to be celebrated on Flag Day.

The next meeting will be on July 9 at 6 p.m. at the Weimar VFW Hall kitchen.
