The Weimar Ladycats cap off their season by having 15 players named to the Academic All-District team.
A 3.5 GPA while being a contributor to the team while on the field are the two biggest requirements to be on this team and 15 Ladycats achieved this goal.
Hannah Fisbeck, Chloe Grifaldo, Natalie Ohnheiser, Izzy Reeves, Ashley Treece, Claire Pavlu, Taylor Smith, Erica Billeck, Beivin Brenner, Zowie Lee, Madison Luckey, Rylee Noska, Brooke Ohnheiser, Faith Cantwell and Tate Griffin were the Ladycats selected.
These young ladies took on all the challenges that a varsity season has to offer. There were plenty of bumps, bruises, and even some tears shed along the way.
The Ladycats were determined to get back to the State Championship and defend their throne but unfortunately things did not work out that way. They pour their hearts and souls into this season and scratched and clawed their way to try and earn a spot in the big game.
The Ladycats played with a target on their back being the defending champions. Everyone wanted a piece of the Ladycats throughout the playoffs and they took on all challengers.
They made a strong push and made it all the way to the Regional Final round of the playoffs before being sent home.
They came up short this season, but it makes these 15 players making the Academic All-District team even more impressive. These athletes put together an amazing season, but they also handled their business in the classroom.
Having a 3.5 GPA is not easy, especially for athletes; they must manage their time almost perfectly. Between practice, homework, tests, classwork, studying at home, making sure they meet deadlines, games and injuries they are under a lot of stress.
Some of these ladies are also taking honors classes, which is essentially school in overdrive, where they learn at an advanced pace. They managed all these things all while being a formidable foe for teams in the playoffs.
The Ladycats earned everything they have been given this season and will be back next year with a vengence.
