Rice CISD honors employees with awards

BEST OF THE BEST

The Rice Consolidated Independent School District recognized multiple employees at its recent staff year-end ceremony. Plaques were presented to retiring employees Maria Saenz at Garwood Elementary, Shannon Gold at Eagle Lake Primary, Carolyn Fowler at Eagle Lake Intermediate, Stephanie Foeh and Nancy Janak at Sheridan Elementary and Vicki Polak, district ESL coordinator.

Also honored were the campus and district Teachers of the Year and Support Staff Members of the Year.

Selected as the Rice CISD Elementary Teacher of the Year is Natasha Frazier, 5th grade reading/language arts teacher at Eagle Lake Intermediate School. The Secondary Teacher of the Year is Jennifer Kunetka, math teacher at Rice High School. Support Staff Member of the Year is Chrisy Andrejczak, secretary at Sheridan Elementary.

Other Campus Teachers of the Year are David Holubec, Life-Skills teacher at Garwood Elementary; Stephanie Foeh, kindergarten teacher at Sheridan Elementary; Michael Canaris, kindergarten teacher at Eagle Lake Primary; Johnna Besch, reading/language arts teacher at Rice Junior High; and Mark Pustejovsky at Rice Challenge Academy.

Campus Support Staff Members of the Year include Grenda Williams, secretary at Garwood Elementary; Mercy Fling, paraprofessional at Eagle Lake Primary; Leigh Ann Hudgins, counselor at Eagle Lake Intermediate; Sally Contreras, paraprofessional at Rice Junior High; Gail Warschak, counselor at Rice High School; and Monrovia Fitzgerald, secretary at Rice Challenge Academy.

Service awards were presented to employees who have been continuously employed by RCIS for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 years. Gift cards of $150 per 5 years of service were presented to over 25 employees in amounts ranging from $150 to $900.
