The Columbus Lady Cardinals had several players selected to be a part of the All-District team.
Starting things off for the Lady Cards was Allie Cranek winning the Newcomer of the Year.
Cranek was great in her role for the Lady Cards. She helped plug multiple holes in the line up throughout the season. But on top of that, she was the perfect complement in the circle to Karlee Mathis and Mia Post.
Where either of the two took a rest day from pitching Cranek stepped up and played excellent from the pitcher position and kept the Lady Cards momentum going.
The first All-District team saw five Lady Cards selected to be a part of the team. Mathis and Post were selected along with Taylor Morrow, Kaylea Foster and Ellie Brown.
These five were constantly in the mix for the Lady Cards and always had their fingerprints all over every big win this season. Morrow was such a dynamic player for the Lady Cards from her shortstop position, but she was also one of the best hitters in the district.
Foster was such a threat with her speed and strength. Foster was so fast that a double off a bunt was never out of the question, she patrolled the outfield, and her strength was on display with her ability to get balls in on time. She even threw a couple of runners out from the outfield.
Brown was an absolute stick inside the batter’s box. She made defenses play honest against her and even when they did, she stepped into pitches and sent them sailing over the wall.
Mathis and Post were the center of it all for the Lady Cards, they went as they went. These two were in the circle for most of the Lady Cards games and knew how to slam the door on opposing offenses. Then they would step in the batter’s and they were the consistent hitters district.
They knew how on base and knew to advance runners help increase their throughout a game. loved the high-pressure moments and along their teammates, their spot on the All-District team.
The second Allteam saw Abigail selected to the team. Lady Cards outfielder selected for her ability. Wiggs along Brown frightened defenses with their hitting prowess and they being recognized.
Three Lady Cards listed as honorable mentions, and they were Aggie Rodriguez, Ella and Molly Garcia. three were just outside of making for the All-District They showed up game, made big plays throughout the and earned the right to be recognized along with the All-District rosters.
