Vets come up short

WEIMAR BASEBALL

The Weimar Vets traveled to Flatonia on Sunday to take on the Wildcats. A rough first inning and third inning in which the Wildcats scored four runs and five runs respectively led to the first loss of the season by a score of 9-3.

The Vets scored two runs in the fifth and one run in the ninth.

The defensive stand outs were Alex Angerstein, Braddy Henke, Dayton Milner and Emerson Harvey.

The offensive leaders were Angerstein with a double, a single, an RBI, a stolen base, a walk and a run scored; Henke with a single, RBI and a run scored; Brett Janacek with three walks; Kevin Polasek with a single and an RBI; Ryker Goehring with a single and a walk; Joseph Frank with a single; Jeff Osburn with a hit-by-pitch free base; and Brady Bippert with a run scored.

Janacek got the start on the mound but had a rough first two innings. Andrew Faske pitched in the fourth, allowing no runs or hits. Goehring finished the game, throwing four scoreless innings and striking out four.

The Vets host their first home game this Sunday at 3 p.m. against the Shiner Clippers at Strickland Field. The concession stand will be open, and there is no admission fee to enter.
