The Columbus Christian Women’s Organization is planning a meeting on Thursday, June 6 at Glidden Baptist Church at 11:30 a.m. to lock in the final details for their annual gala fundraiser.
This year’s theme is Alice’s Wonderland to be held on Sept. 21 in the reception room at the Stafford Opera House.
CCWO has had three fundraisers following a 3-year hiatus for Covid. These were smaller scale versions of their galas produced in the past. The upcoming gala will introduce a new twist due to its tablescape format. Those who buy a table will decorate their own, allowing the imagination of attendees to run freely. Of the 23 tables available, around half have already been purchased for the upcoming event.
There will be several local vendors as well as exhibitors displaying their fashion works and accessories. The auction will be ran by Vance Elliot, and catering will be provided by Mattie Sprague and the Dewberry Cafe. The auction will feature several quality items such as accommodations and breakfast for four people at the Landsdowne Club in London.
CCWO began in 1999 and has been running fundraisers since 2001. They have donated thousands of dollars since then to organizations such as Columbus Food Pantry, Youth & Family Services, Habitat for Humanity, Boys and Girls Clubs, Turtle Wing Foundation, Columbus Education Foundation, The Wellness Council, Columbus Community Hospital, Nesbitt Memorial Library, Live Oak Art Center’s summer kids’ program as well as their own in-house projects: “Credit for Life” for high school seniors and “Senior Smiles” for three Columbus care facilities.
