Lady Cards eliminated in Regional Finals

Lady Cards eliminated in Regional Finals

The Columbus Lady Cardinals season ended last week in the Regional Finals of the playoffs after running into a familiar foe.

The Lady Cards took on a team that has been a thorn in their side all season long. They team won the District Championship and now looked to sweep the Lady Cards in the Regional finals and the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas did just that.

The Lady Cards started game one with some fire, but the Lady Brahmas were there to match their energy leaving the game tied 1-1 at the end of the second inning. The Lady Cards defense played a very strong game up until the third inning.

The Lady Brahmas scored four runs in the bottom of the third to bring the score to 5-1 and putting a lot of pressure on the Lady Cards. The Lady Brahmas added one final run in the bottom of the sixth to finish the game with a final score of 6-1.

The Lady Cards defense struggled to get things back in order after the third inning offensive surge from the Lady Brahmas. But their offense struggled even more.

In game one of the three game series the Lady Cards struggled to get any sort of offense for the entire game. They did everything they could to find some sort of spark but were unable to find any luck or success.

The Lady Cards offense struggled to do anything offensively outside of their one run in the second inning and it ultimately cost them. As the game ended, the Lady Cards reflected heavily on their loss and looked ahead to game two where they hoped to even the series up and force a game three.

In game two the Lady Cards again started the game with a lot of energy and even opened the scoring in the first inning. The Lady Cards scored twice in the first inning to hold a 2-0 lead early in the game.

After being skunked in game one offensively the Lady Cards were feeling confident after a big first inning. Hallettsville was not just going to roll over for them though in the top of the second inning as the Lady Cards defensive struggles continued.

The Lady Brahmas scored twice in the top of the second inning to tie the game up and the Lady Cards never held a lead again. The Lady Brahmas scored four more runs over the next four innings to finish with a score of 7-2 and sent the Lady Cards home in the Regional final round of the playoffs.

The Lady Cards season is over, but they left it out on the field and made a little bit of history along the way. This season may be over, but this Lady Cards team left their mark that will be talked about for years to come.
