Nearly $32 Million Approved for regional mitigation program projects

Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., announced the Texas General Land Office approved $31,832,572 in regional mitigation funds to improve communications, streets, drainage and sewer systems in the cities of Hallettsville, Hearne, Madisonville, Conroe, and La Grange as well as Robertson, Colorado, Sabine and San Augustine counties. Through the Regional Mitigation Program, the GLO enabled local prioritization, which will have a tremendous impact across multiple regions.

“The GLO is proud to work with communities to improve vital services such as drainage, communications, and water systems to benefit the lives of Texans every day,” Commissioner Buckingham said, “As recent storms have demonstrated, improving drainage and communications systems is vital to protecting lives, homes and businesses. While federal funding is complicated, the GLO is dedicated to helping local leaders cut bureaucratic red tape to deliver these resources to make Texas communities more resilient against future disasters.”

Colorado County Water Systems Communication and Power Improvements– $5,284,400 Colorado County will build a communication tower, provide back-up electrical generators with foundations, install and/or replace undersized water supply lines, install a generator water well, a backup water well, a ground storage tank, a pressure tank, and a return activated sludge system, replace a sewer pipe system, and complete associated appurtenances.

The work will include: 1. Communication Tower: The County shall build a communication tower and equipment building, install fencing, solar panels, access drive, and complete associated appurtenances.

2. Rock Island WSC: The County shall install generators, water lines, and complete associated appurtenances.

3. Glidden Water Supply: The County shall install generators with foundations, water lines, blast and recoat water supply tanks, and complete associated appurtenances.

4. Barten Water Improvements: The County shall install a water well, ground storage tank, pipe, electrical service, and complete associated appurtenances in Columbus.

5. WCID 2 (Water): The County shall install generators and complete associated appurtenances.

6. Sheridan Water Supply Improvements: The County shall install a generator, pressure storage tank, and complete associated appurtenances.

7. Sheridan Sewer: The County shall install generators and complete associated appurtenances.

8. WCID 2 (Sewer): The County shall install generators, sludge pump, and complete associated appurtenances.

9. Glidden Sewer Shirley Oaks: The County shall replace sewer pipes and complete associated appurtenances.

10. Glidden Sewer Norway Street: The County shall replace sewer pipes and complete associated appurtenances.
