The Commissioners signed a proclamation to designate June 2 through June 8 as National Garden Week to celebrate well-tended gardens. Representatives of the Columbus Garden Club were present as the proclamation was being read.

A new position was appointed in the county as JoAnn Reeves earned the position of Veterans Service Officer, coming over from Lavaca County to take over for the retiring Charlotte Alger.

Colorado Valley Telephone is nearing an end to its buried fiber optic cable installation in Precinct No. 2. The next batch of roads will be County Roads 240, 242, 243, 244, 248, 250, 252 and Muehr Road. According to Commissioner Brandt, either this batch or one more batch of roads will complete the project to increase connectivity in Precinct 2.

Electric distribution lines will be installed at the Colorado County Emergency Medical Services Station No. 3 property after the commissioners accepted an Easement and Right of Way agreement with AEP.

The commissioners moved to closed session near the end of the meeting to discuss “Deliberation regarding security devises or security audits” according to the agenda.

There was no additional discussion following closed session.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be on Monday, June 10 at the Colorado County Courthouse.
