Weimer VFW Auxiliary installs officers

The Weimar VFW Auxiliary to Post 5875 met for its regular meeting on May 14 with nine members present. Installation of officers for 2024-2025 was conducted by VFW Commander Frank White before the meeting started.

The meeting was opened according to the Ritual by President Charlene Muras.

Correspondence was read by President Charlene Muras regarding membership, reporting, installation of officers and reports required and dues to be submitted after July 1.

There are 15 annual members and 20 life members for 35 members.

There were 8 volunteers at the bake sale on April 13 and $1,055.35 was raised. There were 10 veterans, 10 residents and three Auxiliary volunteers at the Men’s Coffee at Parkview on April 19. The next Men’s Coffee is on May 17. Buddy Poppies will be distributed for donations at Kasper’s on Friday May 24 and MG on Saturday May 25. There will be a drive-through Memorial Day full dinner at the VFW Hall. Auxiliary members are needed to help serve and to distribute poppies to the drive-through line.

The Charter was draped in memory of Dorothy Chevalier who passed away on April 20. Norma White moved to donate $15 to the Nursing Scholarship Fund, Monica Stock seconded, and the motion passed. There will be a dance free to the public on Saturday June 15 at the VFW Hall. Members are encouraged to attend and to help serve pizza from 4-7 p.m.

For the Good of the Order, Charlene Muras read “We Shall Keep the Faith,” a Memorial Day poem by Marina Michael written on Nov. 5, 1918, and “A Memory,” a Memorial Day poem by Emma Lent.

The next meeting will be on June 11 at 6 p.m. at the Weimar VFW Hall kitchen.
