TAX ASSESSOR COLLECTOR
1.How old are you, what do you do and what is your work history?
I am 44 years old, and I am the current Colorado County Tax Assessor Collector.
I have over 20 years of experience in the executive level administrative field. I have over 15 years of experience as an executive assistant to CEOs of large corporations. I worked in the county clerk’s office before being approached to run for the Colorado County Tax Assessor Collector. As Tax Assessor Collector I strive to serve the citizens of Colorado County with honesty, fairness and accountability. I was sworn into office on January 1, 2020, and I continue to uphold the oath I affirmed that day. If re-elected I vow to continue to serve the residents of Colorado County with honesty, integrity and equality.
2. What sets you apart from the other candidates?
There isn’t a “rule book” for elected officials on day-to-day procedures. In serving this first term, it has given me vast knowledge of what is expected of the Tax Assessor Collector to serve the State of Texas, the County of Colorado and the Citizens of Colorado County. In my first term, the Tax Assessor Collector’s office is in consideration by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles for the Bronze Level of service for Performance and Quality. The policies and procedures that are followed in this office are set in place by the State of Texas and we adhere to those policies and procedures for all citizens equally.
3. Why should voters trust you?
Voters should trust me because I take the upmost accountability for the position and the transactions that are processed. Taxpayer money is accurately and efficiently remitted to county and state as policy mandates. Extra internal steps have been put in place to ensure that all taxpayer money is collected and accounted for with the utmost accuracy and efficiency.
4. Why are you running?
I am running for Tax Assessor Collector because I live here, my family lives here, we raise our children here and I as a Colorado County citizen know that there are expectations of an elected official. I try to the best of my ability to serve each citizen with honesty, integrity, and equality. I want to continue to serve the citizens of Colorado County.
5. Why should people vote for you?
With my experience and passion, I believe I could continue to serve the Citizens of Colorado County. If re-elected I will continue improving my growth and knowledge as an elected official. There is a learning curve with any elected position, and having served one term, I would be humbled to continue to serve and grow with Colorado County. This first term has afforded me the opportunity to gain more knowledge and understanding of just what is expected of the Tax Assessor Collector.
