Lady Cards move on to the regional semi-finals

The Columbus Lady Cardinals played and defeated Jourdanton in the Regional Quarterfinals on Friday, May 10, and Saturday May 11.

The Lady Cards played Jourdanton in a threegame series, and they ended up sweeping the series in two games.

@ Jourdanton, W, 10-7 The Lady Cards were in a very competitive game in game one. The Lady Cards were leading the game by a score of 4-2.

Jourdanton came roaring back in the bottom of the fifth inning and took the lead because they scored four runs. Jourdanton held a 6-4 lead heading into the final two innings and the Lady Cards were not going down without a fight.

The Lady Cards came back and scored three runs in both the sixth and seventh inning to bring their score to an even 10 runs. During that time the Lady Cards only allowed one run bringing the final score to 10-7.

Allie Cranek was the only Lady Card to hit a multiple base hit, she was joined by Mia Post and Ella Berger who helped contribute to the offensive effort by combining for six RBIs.

The Lady Cards secured the win in game one and game two also required a late offensive surge from the Lady Cards to win.

Vs. Jourdanton, W, 5-2 In game two Jourdanton opened the scoring in the second inning and held onto that lead until the fourth inning. Jourdanton’s lead was only 1-0 on the scoreboard so the Lady Cards panicked and found a way back into the game.

The Lady Cards scored one run in the fourth and fifth innings to take the lead 2-1. Jourdanton even things up in the top of the sixth inning but the Lady Cards were not done scoring runs.

In the bottom of the sixth, they scored three runs to make the score 5-2, and Jourdanton never tied the game up.

The Lady Cards now set their sights on the Regional Semi-final where they will look to keep their season alive and earn a spot in the Regional Championship game.
