Raiders State Track Meet results

Raiders State Track Meet results

The Rice Raiders had three athletes represent their program at this year’s UIL State Track Meet in Austin, TX.

Tatiana Mills, RJ Myers and Jael Valles Serrano all earned an opportunity to compete at the State meet and all three turned in solid performances to end the season.

Starting off with the Discus event, the Raiders had their first athlete of the day finish top-10 in the State. Mills came in 9th place for the discus throw to cap off her track season.

Mills had been at the top of the leaderboards for the discus throw all season long and she can now say she was top-10 in the state. Mills also ran the hurdles this season, and while she did not make it to state in that event, she was supported by all her teammates all year.

Next was Myers in the shotput event and he finished in fourth place in the state. Myers won the District, Area and Regional Championships before competing in the State Competition.

Myers finishing top five in the state was the perfect cherry on top to finish off his track season.

Last, but certainly not least was Valles Serrano in the 800m run. Serrano controlled this race’s pace in the District, Area and Regional meets, and at State it was more challenging.

While it challenging Valles Serrano still managed to finish in 7th place at the State meet being only milliseconds behind the runners in the top three.

The Raiders track team had a very successful season this year capped off by great performances at the State meet. They will look to build on this success next season but for now they earned a well-deserved break.

Tatiana Mills finished in 9th place in the discus event at the State meet.

Jael Valles Serrano finished in 7th place in the 800m run at the State meet.
